Today, HANNES GROSSMANN, drummer-conspirator-in-chief of ‘supergroup,’ ALKALOID, posts “unorthodox” sample of what is to come for their sophomore effort, now in the works.

On Facebook, he states: “The clip below is a rough mix taken from the studio today and features a short sequence of the new Alkaloid album, which is going to be released on Season of Mist in early 2018.”

Joined by Florian “Morean” Maier (Dark Fortress), ex-Obscura Christian Muenzner (Eternity’s End), ex-Aborted’s Danny Tunker (Abhorrent), and Obscura’s current bassist, Linus Klausenitzer, Grossmann claims the clip is taken from “a 19-minute song which will be on the new album.”

He also states that, “It is the most extreme section, most other parts on the album will be a lot more melodic than this.”

Alkaloid created an internationally beloved Prog-monster in 2015 with their immeasurable debut, The Malkuth Grimoire, which was the result of a highly successful crowdfunding campaign. The follow-up to their masterpiece has been anxiously anticipated, and it was this that attracted the attentions of Season of Mist, Black Metal’s premiere label, who signed the band last year.

The new project comprises of collaborations from all members and is exclusively recorded at Grossmann’s own Mordor Sounds Studio in Germany.
